This was my initial entry into the "Sun" derby on Woot. I actually started out fiddling around with just the idea of the sun being a person, or a sun god of some sort. I gave him all sorts of whacky shit because I figured the sun is what brings warmth and life.
The next idea I added to this was that the sun and the moon were buddies seeing each other again - a charming tale of two ancient friends reuniting, and I was going to call it The long awaited eclipse (or something like that).
Then really I came back around to an idea that my dad had wanted me to draw, and that was having the son of the sun. After sketching him out it seemed to fit perfectly and I stuck with that. I finished the line work and wanted a break from it and began to doodle this, which I ended up taking all the way to the finish line and submitting into the derby and never came back to this one.
I still think this sketch has a unique charm about it, and I might finish it off and submit it elsewhere - sometime.
My name is Kris Robinson, this is where I blog about art, computers, illustration, design, work, life and other stuff... basically anything that pops into my head. I'm rebuilding the site and it's in a bit of a beta stage, but I wanted to keep posting stuff to it, so forgive me for the unfinished look.
